Trials Of the Righteous

8And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

9Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

10Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. (Job 1:8-11, King James Version)

Question: Do righteous people sometimes suffer?  Do trials and temptations come upon people of God?

30But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. (Matthew 10:30, King James Version)

Question: Does God deal with people on an individual level?

22And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: (Exodus 4:22, King James Version)

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16, King James Version)

Question: Does God deal with people on a corporate level (treating an entire group as one)?

If the answer to all the above are “Yes”, then why do we think it strange when a church undergoes trials?
