The Vatican is Expanding Its Influence

You have probably already read Robert Thiel’s article on “Vatican Announced Plan for Anglicans to Become Part of the Church of Rome”.  Basically, he posts a CNN article that “the number of Anglicans wishing to join the Catholic Church has increased in recent years as the Anglican church has welcomed the ordination of women and openly gay clergy and blessed homosexual partnerships.”  This really shouldn’t be a big shock.  I’m amazed that whenever a church changes its teachings on some subjects that they seem surprised when people want to leave.  At any rate, the article says, “The Vatican said Tuesday it has worked out a way for groups of Anglicans who are dissatisfied with their faith to join the Catholic Church.”

So, today the Pope’s official spokesmen, Father Federico Lombardi, is reported in the Telegraph article “Pope ‘is not trying to lure Anglicans into the Catholic Church’” as saying, that it is merely “a generous response by the Holy Father to the legitimate aspirations of some Anglican groups.”

That may be, but it still is a response to a demand for Anglicans to be able to easily convert.

Basically, today’s news brings us with 2 powers that are slowly coalescing: A religious power based on the ancient Babylonian mystery religion, and a political power based in the heart of Europe.  The rise of the “Holy Roman Empire” may take some time, but once the stage is set events could happen quite rapidly.

I’m reminded of the prognostications by political pundits of how long it would take Germany to reunite.  Some said 15 years, some 10 and some were bold enough to go as low as 5.  I recall it taking 18 months!  The Berlin Wall went up on 13 August 1961 and lasted 28 years.  However, other events set the stage so that once it fell, though, reunification happened swiftly.

I am reminded of what some say is the reason John “marveled” at the Great Whore of Revelation 17.  Some say he did not marvel so much at what was going on in the vision as to how fast events were occurring.  When I think of the Berlin Wall, I am reminded of this.  I believe it will at least partly have to do with what people in the end times will marvel at as well.
