This seems an appropriate article for the day after the Day of Atonement. It appears that the Temple Institute has started building an altar. It will be a modern scaled-down version that can be transported to the temple once there is a temple to put it into.
The IsraelNationalNews.com site posted the article “Temple Institute to Build Sacrificial Altar on Tisha B’av” last June. The technology to build the altar is interesting.
There is also a picture of gathering the stones and laying them upon plastic. The article explains, “The rocks were gathered from the Dead Sea area and wrapped individually to assure they remain whole and are not touched by metal, as the Bible requires.” I believe they are referring to Ex 20:25 here.
