Moving Day: Families and Separation

Well, I helped to move my daughter into her new apartment yesterday.  She is living off-campus now while she goes to school.  School doesn’t start until next month, so she isn’t really gone yet, but it is a bittersweet event anyhow.

Last Sabbath, our congregation heard a sermonette about family.  His oldest son starts school this fall.  And yet, the room will still be available for the times he wants to come home.  We want our children to want to come home (for a visit, anyhow).  We want to maintain that relationship with our children into their adult years.

One doctrine that is unique about the Church of God is that God is all about family.  We are even given the Father’s name, just like we take on our human father’s last name when we are born (Ep 3:14-15).

God wants us to be a part of His family.  How much more does He yearn for us than we yearn to be with and close to our own children?

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

~ Lk 12:32
