Follow Your Heart? Bad Argument for Gays

It seems that in this world what counts is one’s feelings.  “Follow your heart” is the mantra.  However, is your heart always right?  The Bible says, “No!”

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

~ Jer 17:9

People follow their hearts when they cheat on their spouse.  People follow their hearts when they become angry and kill others around them.  People follow their hearts when they steal what they cannot afford.

Following your heart is foolish.

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

~ Pr 14:12 & 16:25

Human reasoning can lead in circles, but God’s word is pretty clear on many matters.  Humans can reason that gay marriage is just as natural as heterosexual marriage.  However, humans can also look at the natural act of having offspring and come to quite different conclusions.  Confusion and chaos result from trying to argue merely from human reasoning.  Furthermore, human reasoning is constantly changing.  It is shifting sand.  God’s word is the bedrock foundation that opens up the missing dimension in knowledge.

Yet, who among us hasn’t given in to “natural” inclinations?  What are “natural inclinations”?  Well, sin of course!  Carnal nature is the enemy of God (Ro 8:7).

Richmond.com on 18 May 2009 posted an article “Homosexuality and the Church – A Different Take on the Conservative Perspective”.  It is pretty much a back to basics type of article.  It points out that restoration is possible – for all sinners (that means you and that means me). A decent read for a non-COG article.
