Speaking of Megachurches, Crystal Cathedral Files for Bankruptcy

According to MSNBC.com, “Crystal Cathedral files Chapter 11 bankruptcy".  This isn’t the first report, though, of them falling on hard times.

I have to admit that I have never cared much for Robert Schuller (the older one), but my aunt used to think the world of him and his “positive gospel”.  I guess I don’t feel as strongly about it as some of the comments on MSNBC.com’s article, though.  Then again, I don’t have intimate knowledge of their goings on, either.

There is an interesting point in all this, though.  God’s Word doesn’t forbid debt.  However, it doesn’t look too kindly upon it either.  Do the Schullers really think that this sets a good example of Christianity?

  1. No wonder all these huge churches preach messages asking for money all the time. I don't understand how a church goes bankrupt, especially with thousands of members.
