When Change Comes

UCG is not the only group that has had its share of aches and pains lately.  The leaders in some other groups have suffered poor health lately.  It is becoming more evident that things are shifting, but the question is, “To what?”

When you are in the middle of the firestorm, you may think that it is somehow unique.  You might give in to the tendency to believe that it has never been like this before.

Well, yes and no.

When Jesus spoke of wars, earthquakes, and the like, was He referencing something new?  Actually, no.  There have always been wars, famines and earthquakes, but He did say something that we should be focusing on.

8All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:8, King James Version)

The word for “sorrows” literally means “birth pains” (S. NIV).  We are promised pain, and we are promised the pains will come in waves, become more and more pronounced and closer and closer together right up until the end.

What will you do when the really tough times come?  Who will you cling to?  Will you follow God or men?

These are not just idle questions.  Are you prepared for the worst that is yet to come?  Many thought they were, but they are no longer with us.  For the most part, they allowed the offenses of men to throw them off track.  They all forgot Who it is they are supposed to follow.

It could happen to any of us, but only if we neglect to “watch” (as in watch ourselves, our attitudes and our habits) and “pray always”.
