Reflections: It’s All About Trust

Genealogies. Instructions for putting together the Tabernacle. Instructions for building the Temple. Tedious detail.

Boring, right?

Why such detail for these items, yet why, oh why, can’t God just tell me what to do tomorrow? Next week? Next year? When will such-and-such trial end? When will I at least have some idea that I’m on the right track?

You know those details are there to show that God knows the number of hairs upon your head. He knows when even a sparrow falls to the ground.

And yet, God didn’t tell Abraham why He wanted Isaac to be sacrificed. Talk about anxiety! God told him that He would give him the land, but Abraham wandered around rather than building cities. God also never told Job about His conversations with Satan.

It’s all about trust – another word for faith.

6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6, King James Version)
