I really liked the Raiders of the Lost Ark movie. It had some pretty neat special effects. However, do you realize that what they were looking for was not the real ark?
No, it was a shadow of the real one!
1Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
2A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
3For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
4For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
5Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. (Hebrews 8:1-5, King James Version)
Did you catch that? The tabernacle, including the sanctuary, is but a shadow of the real one in Heaven. That includes the Ark of the Covenant!
19And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail. (Revelation 11:19, King James Version)
What was in the Ark?
1At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.
2And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark. (Deuteronomy 10:1-2, King James Version)
Not only were the Ten Commandments written upon stone, in order to denote the permanance of them, but they were placed into the Ark of the Covenant here on earth. The true Ark of the Covenant is in Heaven. Seems to me that the Ten Commandments would be inside of it as well. I’m not sure how people can say that the core of the Law have been done away when it is evident that they were lasting and binding upon all people! They permanently reside in Heaven.
