55 And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they departed every man unto his place.
56 Thus God rendered the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in slaying his seventy brethren:
57 And all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
What goes around, comes around. That is definitely one message that comes through loud and clear in the Bible. In particular, those who commit evil will be repaid with evil.
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

27 Whoever digs a pit will fall into it,
and a stone will come back on him who starts it rolling.
And yet, it is interesting just how far people will go to justify their bad behavior. I wrote to the Helium title “Why people prefer to blame society rather than accept responsibility”, but my motivation was actually to list some reasons why people will in general try to justify their bad behavior rather than take ownership for their actions.
